Majority of McCain staffers are defending Palin's competency and breadth of knowledge -- a few elitist types felt she didn't pass their litmus test as VP(ivy league education,etc). They are the ones trying to scapegoat McCain's loss to Palin. This particular handful of staffers want to be hired by another campaign at some time in the future--so they're attempting to hang the reason for the loss around Palin's neck. These small-minded people represent the 'moderate' Repubs who want to disown Evangelicals and other conservative groups. IMO, instead these 'elitist' Repubs should stay on the other side of the aisle when next they reach out to Democrats.
