Until today I didn't think that buildings and foliage were a problem. But, there was an article in this Washington Post (available via the net I believe) which discusses the problems in the cable industry and the competetion from BA. The article says the same thing I have been saying for a while, which is the BA makes a lot of promises they never intend to keep.

But the disturbing point is that when the article discussed MMDS BA's spokesman, Larry Plumb (whom I am getting really tired of) said that tall buildings, foliage and terrian were turning out to be unexpected problems (but they were trying to resolve them and Hampton Roads would be deployed soon). What concerns me is that everyone at CAWS says that tall buildings and foliage are not problems. But then, BA's spokesman is quoted in the Post saying it is.

Maybe the reasons for, and the delay in, the contract renogiations is that the systems are not performing as specified. Mybe the technology doen't work as well as promised. In which case we are all screwed.

I am going to call CAWS and BA tomorrow and try to get an answer to these critical questions.

I do recommend folks seek out the Post article. It is in the Business section.
