Johannes, Just because some goofs say it doesn't mean it is true. Poison gas and biological weapons have been extremely bad at producing mass deaths. The subway gassing in Tokyo is an example where 10s of thousands of people were crammed together and the casualties were not huge. If they are trying to oppose "mass" to a rifle, then, o.k. But if they are trying to say there is a quantitative difference between the deaths caused by this stuff and conventional bombs and hand grenades, then it is nonsense. WMD is just a scare word and a boogie man for the rabid right to wave at the ignorati.
