It was my impression, either from on-line Mac Week or
Mac User/World that they are planning an "extension"
to allow Mac programs to run "under emulation" under
the BeOS.

> Other than that, BeOS is just a primitive package that's inferior in every other category from networking to physical appearance.

Have you seen the physical appearance?
I've downloaded a MacOS extension that purportedly
makes the desktop look like BeOS (even to the extent of
changing the rainbow apple in the corner to "Be".
Font change, a little extra shading and shadowing, and a shortened
window title bar, and some change in icons (e.g. trash looks like
and office waste basket rather than Oscar the grouch's home)
Nothing terrible, I like it, except for those funky title bars....
Other than the look, I have no experience
with BeOS. Why do you say it's inferior? The way the Mac
magazines describe it, it sounds fairly good.

The program code will remain the same; only when the program
needs to access system resources will it be intercepted
and the call translated to a Be call.

It is so hard to predict the future. 10 years ago,
would anyone have guessed today's IBM relatively
meager market share of PC's?
