Box makers either pump out low end MB machines for the massess with size of Drive,Mmeory and CPU speed as differentiatros. Just look at success of Intels crummy 810/815 integrated MB's.

Clearly nvidia is a non-starter in this segment.


I don't follow your logic. 810/815 is precisely the market Nvidia is addressing. 810/815 chipsets are more than $25, and in performance come below the 220 model. The 220 and 815 may be in the same price range, but 220 has DDR, better video, better audio and Fast Ethernet(?).

420 improves on 220 by upgrading video and throwing in another channel of memory. I haven't studied Anand's numbers in detail, but it looks like it may not be a worthwhile upgrade, but my expectation is that 220 will be a huge success.
