I am an FAA licensed A&P mechanic and an FAA licensed private pilot. I worked as a helicopter mechanic for several years. As a pilot, I am not rated for rotorcraft, but have taken enough lessons I can fly a Hughes 300C competently.

If I were to have a personal helicopter for fun, I'd probably choose the 300C or variant, for the ease of maintenance.

A turbine would not make sense for me if I wanted to do my own maintenance.

Tri-blades don't teeter, aren't rigid, and generally have higher mass (more inertia) than two blades.

They also have more surface area and get a push from 3 radials when trying to catch air for auto-rotation.
