(NewsTraders) -- Claire's Stores (CLE) revealed it has attempted to arrange a meeting with Gadzooks (GADZ) concerning acquiring additional Gadzooks shares or acquiring the entire company, according to an original Schedule 13D. Claire's Stores said its has not been successful in arranging a meeting with the company, but said Gadzooks shares appear undervalued at current market prices. Claire's Stores intends to purchase additional shares depending on the reaction by Gadzooks' management and board regarding its merger overtures. Recently, Claire's Stores purchased 1,042,000 Gadzooks shares at prices ranging from $8.63 to $12.00 per share between 7/23/98 and 9/10/98. Claire's Stores currently holds 1,042,000 shares, or an 11.8% stake.
