That's because country listenerers are mostly uneducated rednecks who dont know how to use bittorrent or P2P apps.

Similarly, R&B/rap remains the only category of music that hasn't seen plunging sales figures in the physical realm- it's a very similar situation- that crowd either doesn't have the inclination, or the equipment, to share music online.

This has also had the interesting result that the top 40 albums/songs these days are basically 100% rap/r&b because those lists simply measure sales of physical CDs. Basically the Top 40 list now represents nothing more than the spending habits of the last remaining demographic who doesn't get their music for free on the interwebs.

I'll leave the social commentary to your imagination.

One area of music who has bucked the overall trend of the file sharing bogeyman is country. The new country music which started around the time of Garth Brooks has been going strong for years. No problem with illegal file sharing.
