Yeah, this is one of the only two Chinese car companies which have some of their own designs and patent. All the rest of car companies in China are just some cheap assembly lines.

And up to 2004, Chinese gov. still unreasonably punish Chinese owned companies in terms of tax, including all the state-owned companies. Cherry has to pay 33% of tax on their revenue, while all the JV or solely foreign owned companies only need to pay 7.5% of tax on their revenue. The gov. is talking about eliminating the tax advantage for the latter, not sure when will start.
