Seoul shares end lower as chipmakers fall

SEOUL, Jan 11 (Reuters) - Seoul shares closed fractionally lower on Friday led by chipmakers.

The key Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) <.KS11> finished 0.12 percent down at 727.36.

It fell 2.7 percent this week.

Concerns that a rise in spot chip prices may not be sustained hit chip shares, as Hynix Semiconductor Inc <00660.KS> closed 90 won down at 3,030 won ($2.33).

Hynix was also hurt by doubts raised about the planned sale of its memory business to U.S. rival Micron Technology Inc

The world's top computer memory chipmaker, Samsung Electronics Co Ltd <05930.KS>, fell 2,000 won to 306,000.

The technology-laden Kosdaq <.KQ11> over-the-counter fell 1.72 percent to 75.02.

It fell 0.57 percent this week.
