Scott, you were looking at the wrong post.

(I had TWO posts yesterday, responding to others who mentioned the Jordanian offer of troops. I pointed out that Saudis/Jordanians/Syrians would be likely to support their co-religionists in the 'Sunni Triangle', while Turkey would want to deploy in the Kurdish areas to support the Turkmen [and oppose the Kurds], and Iran would back their co-religionist Shia in Iraq.)

I think the Iraqi turn-down of ANY troops from neighboring nations illustrates my point quite well.

NOTE: there is nothing 'negative' in being clear-eyed, and seeing reality.
