Let me throw out a conterversial view.

Since this string is on education right now, I want to address the issue of poor education in America.

It looks to me like many people in this string blame the education problem on the parents. I agree this is a factor, there are more little princes and princesses now then 20 years ago. However...

Who thinks part of the problem is in the caliber of individuals who choose Elementery and Secondary Education as a course of study in college?

My experiance is such that the people who choose to become Education majors in college are generally sub standard students.

At my University, the education program was seen as a coasting major, along with Soc and Psych. It was the courses of study that people choose, after they failed out of their first choice.

So, what does everyone think. Does it scare anyone that overall, education majors have the lowest college entrance scores of any major?
