New Zealand: Police question man over ‘hate speech’ for writing ‘Islam is Right about Women’ outside mosque

What if the offender had been a Muslim who believed that Islam is right about women? He wouldn’t have been charged in that case, of course, but apparently the offender was a non-Muslim who was being sarcastic, and apparently New Zealand expect passersby to be able to discern that sarcasm in the bare statement “Islam is Right about Women” and as a result conceive “hate” in their hearts. My oh my, the new speech rules of our moral superiors are so convoluted. But they always work out the same way in any case: any criticism of Islam, no matter how fact-based, no matter how focused on the defense of human rights, is demonized, stigmatized, marginalized, and silenced.

“Man who wrote hate speech outside mosque spoken to by police,” Stuff, December 15, 2020 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):
Police have spoken with a man who left a hate speech message written in chalk outside the Masjid An-Nur in Christchurch.
Stuff understands the words “Islam is Right about Women” were chalked outside the mosque on Deans Ave on Saturday.
Canterbury District Commander Superintendent John Price said on Tuesday officers had “located and spoken to” a 36-year-old man in relation to a number of chalk messages written on footpaths throughout Christchurch including Masjid An-Nur Mosque, the Linwood Islamic Centre and several police stations.
“We appreciate this behaviour has drawn much attention and we want to thank the public for letting us know about it.
“We also want to use this opportunity to remind the public that if you see any behaviour that causes concern, to contact police.”… |
