So are you now long 10 AKX-MI instead of 10 AXP-MI with the same dilemma?

In any case, I've never outright purchased put contacts unless they were part of a hedging strategy, nor is AXP an underlying I follow. As you know, selling a put is directional, but the max you can lose is your initial put cost. I usually don't make adjustments until 4-10 days prior to expiration... with your long OTM puts there is enough time for a stock price reversal, so I wouldn't touch them now.
