My excursion in puts was always a ... ahem ... a disaster. But that's my experience and I guess it has to do with the bullish environment we all lived in since quite some time. If at all, the "put periods" were always short and violent. There were a few clear cut negative trends longer than a week (g) like Nikkei and SAP (which nobody could really believe) , but otherwise catching down waves, at least for me with my close-to-DC spectral response, well ...

re selling today..."let your profits run" (and watch the stop loss levels). Example: Dell calls - dont have them anymore either, will wait for the May numbers.

Re well-doing companies going through black times - bought BA and SAP for a long haul today.
