I spent six years living in southern states, and liked many of the people there on a personal level. But the generally provincial attitudes and naivety about the rest of the country, and lack of open mindedness was often a shock. It's a shame that this nation has to pander to the unimpressively simple attitudes of so many in that crowd to win electoral college elections. Amiable Bush may seem, but "decent" is a transparent act to anyone who takes time to dig even a little bit. A phony in the pocket of the money power is a better description.
