Only economic sense? To take that argument to the extreme, we would only build government buildings that are square boxes - because that is the cheapest and easiest.

"economic sense" doesn't imply cheapest and easiest.

If I want an Infiniti, rather than a Kia or a Tata ( en.wikipedia.org ), and I'm willing to pay for it than its production made economic sense.

If you had a market for different sources of electricity, and most people were willing to pay a large amount extra for "green power" ("Willing to" in this case meaning when it becomes available they do so, and not just because its their only alternative. Expressing willingness when asked, but without having to pay a cent, doesn't count), than it could also make economic sense.

But people aren't generally willing to pay twice as much for electricity because its "green".

why not help industries that create good jobs

Unless there is a market demand for their product, there is little indication that the job is a good job. Well it may be good for the employee, but I'm talking about good for the economy as a whole.

Now I'm sure eventually there will be such a demand, but you only really find out if the industries get by without subsidies.
