PairGain Technologies' HiGain ETSI Systems Approved by China Telecom
Largest Telecom in China Expands DSL Service Offerings to Zhenjiang Province
TUSTIN, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 13, 1998--PairGain Technologies Inc.
(Nasdaq: PAIR - news) today announced that its HiGain(R) ETSI DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) solutions will be deployed by China Telecom, the largest provider of telecommunications services in China. China Telecom will initially deploy more than 1,000 ends in China's Zhenjiang province, then plans to extend its DSL service offerings to other provinces throughout China.
PairGain's HiGain ETSI systems transfer data at Nx64 Kbps up to E1 rates (2.048 Mbps) over ordinary copper telephone lines, allowing PTTs and other service providers to rapidly establish E1 service to corporate customers.
The basic system consists of a line unit that installs in the central
exchange and a remote unit that installs at or near the customer site.
China Telecom plans to implement HiGain to improve the quality of its
Digital Data (DDN) and frame relay network services that it provides to its customers. PairGain's HiGain ETSI solutions support Nx64 kbps up to 2 Mbps services. China Telecom will be serviced by PairGain technical support based in its Guangzhou, China office and by PairGain's local partner based in Hangzhou.
