Mon 8 Jun 98 News Release
Mr. Gennen McDowall reports
The company has received the latest results from its diamond exploration
program in northern Sweden. Stream samples gathered during the summer of
1997 have now been analyzed by Dr. John Gurney's laboratory in South
Africa. The 351 samples have produced the following kimberlite indicator
minerals:

Purple garnets 4

Orange garnets 4

Ilmenites 4

Chrome diopsides 2
These indicator minerals have now been sent for micro-probing.
Poplar's subsidiary company North Star Diamonds A/S is exploring Sweden,
along with Alcaston Mining of Australia. The company has an application
pending for 270,000 square kilometres in the northern half of the county.
Poplar announced earlier an agreement with prospectors who found the first
diamonds in Sweden. This find of kimberlite indicator minerals further
confirms the prospectivity for diamonds in the Karelian craton, which
underlies parts of Sweden, Finland and Russia.
These results of the micro-probe analysis will be announced shortly.
