You do not have to check billions of [embedded] systems to see where the problems lie.

TOTALLY agree with you. While there are billions of chips, there are only millions of systems containing these chips. This was clarified by Harlan Smith, on this thread about 6 months ago.

When this thread was initially created (about a year ago), there was very little information in existence on embedded systems issues. We were ALL learning, and trying to generate discussion to understand the issue.

As others have participated on this thread, certain issues and/or mis-conceptions have been clarified, and new areas of concern brought to our attention.

I hope most people check out archived posts rather than ONLY react to the initial post made last January - a year ago - when this thread was created. There's a lot of good information here.

I'll check with SI to see if I can get the initial post for this thread modified. (Easier said than done, tho.) There's enough bad or distorted info out there - I don't want to contribute to the problem.
