I heard T D Jakes on television tonight. He was talking about the failure of the church to prepare marriages for the "turns" of life, with the consequences being the divorce rate was higher in the church than the overall population. What happened to the adage that the family that prays together stays together. There is a lot of false teaching in the church and a lot of false teachers. Our pastor much to my delight has started a preparation on the theology of the church. I have always said that correct theology is everything in living a victorious life in Christ. The enemy is so adept at implanting false notions and thoughts in our minds and thus misrepresenting God. If by insight in studying scripture we can delight ourselves in the one true God, getting a feel for His character I think we can best overcome false teaching. Just for a start many pastors that I have had dealings with are mean as snakes and encourage underlyings to become meaner than they are. They are unforgiving and vengeful to those that would dare challenge them and their authority...when the scripture clearly calls them to lead by love and not with the authority of kings and princes.
