Actually the term "assault rifle" was coined by Adolph Hitler when he ordered that the machine pistol 44 be renamed the Sturmgewehr. The Sturmgewehr was the first assault rifle and it is a machine gun. It includes a button to switch from semi auto fire to fully automatic fire. Don't beleive it?
