Tom: Interesting speculations. An AOL Brinker groupie could also receive the inspiration to post here when Brinker presumedly posts on AOL. Don Lane's last post to me was seemingly not anchored in logic (a Brinker hallmark) and quite churlish, even silly in a child- ish way (not a Brinker hallmark). The feature whereby the poster echoes Brinker's words may denote nothing more than a certain pomposity and the "donning" of a persona worthy of a groupie. The posts you cite are standard fare, capable of anyone who can parrot Brinker's ideas. There are many in the latter camp. Parenthetically, I am certain Mr. Lane is enjoying his 15 minutes of fame here immensely.
The evidence which, in my view, would estimably bolster your case requires a direct A to B comparison of the Lane posts with the the presumed, preceding AOL Brinker posts. If your hypothesis is correct, there should be telltale similarities between the missives in question as to style, vocabulary, diction, or, even, topic.
As to the redundant "ace" moniker, this proves nothing in itself. Anyone, especially a Brinker groupie, might be so inclined to adopt such an eponym.
That being said, there is the natural inclination for those of us here to wish for Brinker's visitation. That power of suggestion can be quite formidable and color our viewpoints. On another bb I follow, there was a contingent of posters convinced Alan Greenspan was amongst them, an active par- ticipant in the discussion. Even the most skeptical were beginning to be swayed until it was proved to be a hoax.
Bring us the AOL posts, if possible. |
