The Pentagon budget should fall back to roughly 3 percent of GDP where it was before the unnecessary and costly invasion of Iraq.

I have no interest in wasting money on bad military projects.

But realistically, this is not a significant part of solving the structural deficit problems we face. You could cut the military budget to 3% tomorrow and you would STILL be facing structural deficits as far as the eye can see. The reason for that is two giant failed social programs, Medicare (including Medicaid) and Social Security. You cannot have fiscal responsibility as long as these programs are intact.

I do disagree about lumping in all these non-military items into the military budget, however. Apparently, your view is that NSA is a military undertaking; I don't see it that way.

In the end, none of it matters unless you eliminate Medicare and SS. These liberal social programs pose a far greater threat to our country than military enemies ever did.
