I've seen it here, I've seen it there. Once had a client, a black physician, who walked into Dillards to buy Christmas gifts for his staff. He picked out a number of expensive handbags, went to the counter, and pulled out $2,100 in cash to pay for them.

They called security and detained him, essentially interrogating him, as to where he got the cash. Although he was encouraged to pursue legal action, he declined.

Ayn Rand defined racism as follows:

It is the notion of ascribing moral, social or political significance to a man's genetic lineage -- the notion that a man's intellectual and characterological traits are produced and transmitted by his internal body chemistry.

That seems like a pretty good definition to me. And by that definition I think both of these cases would appear to have had significant elements racism.

It happens everywhere.
