I was in CompUSA in Woburn, MA. They had a very nice display for K56 complete with video tape propaganda. Walnut finish on the display rack looked real good. They had stacks of MOT modems. The USRX, oops COMS, display took up two free-standing kiosks with a wider selection of internal and externals, PC and Mac. While the USRX presence is greater, "dominate" seems a little strong with respect to my observation of retail prescence.

From my point of view K56 looks credible at the retail level. So fwiw I see the modems available contrary to other comments that they aren't. Otoh, recent comments I am hearing are that x2 has a dominant share of this market to date. It's certainly hard to tell what the oem's are doing from where I'm sitting. Without more noise about K56 usage, however, I would say that guessing on the lighter side would be a better bet. Time will tell whether K56 becomes a footnote. Imo all sins will ultimately be washed away by an ITU standard.

But again, jmo.
