ooooh.. that is a bad turtle karma story, but I think you've probably worked most of it off by now with your turtle rescues. Imagine all of the young turtles that have probably hatched and survived as a result of your efforts!

It's interesting, but a few years ago, it seemed like hardly anyone ever stopped to move turtles. But in the last couple of years, by the time I've either stopped or turned around to drive back to move a turtle, sometimes someone else is already busy moving the turtle off the road. I think that happened 2 or 3 times last summer. In our area, there is a turtle group that actually held a workshop last summer and had a vet who specializes in turtles, come to this area to teach people how to patch broken shells and use other techniques to save injured turtles. It's good to see that the interest in preserving wildlife actually seems to be on the rise. I feel greater optimism now that I did even a few years ago.
