Yes, it's true. I'm an incorrigible insomniac from way back when. In winter I sleep about 6-7 hours a night, but in summer, I often have a few nights in a row of 2-5 hours of sleep a night. I sleep least close to full moons.. in fact, I barely sleep for the week going up to the full moon. I write and do a lot more art then too. After the full moon, when we get into the dark moonless week, I sleep a lot more.. 7-8 hours a night, and then gradually the cycles starts over with less and less hours of sleep. I've never worried much about it and think it is probably something very natural in the way my body reacts to light. An interesting thing is that I've compared notes with quite a few artist-writer friends and also some very busy biologist friends and they are on pretty much the same cycle that I am, so it may be a lot more prevalent than we realize. I started keeping track of the "creativity" aspect of this about 2-3 years ago and it really is like clockwork with me.
