Pierre, I question your post regarding Pittman's concern with the PEARLgold plate to market.....There is NO processless plate available at this time commercially....even the ZP plate is in beta and the ZP plate problems are magnified as compared to Presstek. It has been common knowledge that the new Presstek plate will become available at the end of this quarter or in January 1998 and should be no surprise to anyone, let alone Pittman! The PEARLgold is also in beta now and is on schedule for announced commercial release as of Print-97 information. The Imation/Presstek HDP (proofer) is also in Beta. All Presstek and Imation hardware is completed (Pearlsetters) and ready to ship....The present wait is for the material used for the proof from Imation.... that is now being perfected in beta testing. Personally, I do not know how many orders are in back log, but I do know that the hardware is ready to ship. We have been told that the material from Imation will be ready by the end of the year, and the $5000 program will likely exist until that time.
