Trans World enhancing Web site
CHICAGO, May 5 (Reuters) - Music and video retailer Trans World Entertainment Corp. is working to strengthen and enhance its Web site in an effort to boost online sales.
''We've been working on it to make sure we're ready for a significant increase in traffic,'' Transworld Chief Financial Officer John Sullivan said in a telephone interview.
He said the company was working on marketing and merchandising initiatives to develop content on its Web site.
In addition, the company plans to leverage its store brand names, which include Coconuts, Strawberries and Record Town to increase traffic to the Web site.
Albany, N.Y.-based Trans World currently sells music, videos and video games over its Web site, www.twec.com. The company also operates about 525 stores across the country.
In a report on Monday, analyst George Sutton at Dain Rauscher Wessels said he expected the company, within the next two weeks, to add ''major enhancements'' to its Web site, including branding with the company's brand names, enhancement to distribution capabilities and a ''significant'' ramp-up in the scale of online programming.
''I think you'll see a continued development of the site,'' Sullivan said.
Trans World shares closed down 17/32 at 13-5/32 on Nasdaq. |
