I don't really care what they do- I just want them to do it without us there. While honor killings are horrible, they aren't a reason to invade a country, or to sustain an occupation. And as long as their suicide bombers are just carrying out internecine warfare without us being involved, let them do it. I'm not one to intervene in civil wars- not in Iraq, not in the Balkans, not in Africa. I say, if people want to kill each other, let them do it until they have their fill of it- then they'll stop. The US cannot afford to be the world's referee. It would be nice if someone could do referee the world- but we can't afford it, and we don't do a very good job of it, and much of the time people hate us for our efforts.

But I agree Bush should have known better. He made numerous mistakes going in- the largest being the reason for going in (turns out we weren't at risk)- but the most expensive mistake has turned out to be that belief that the oil money was going to pay for things, and the war wasn't going to cost that much. Talk about gigantic mistakes. Yes, Bush should have known better.

It's unfortunate this administration made so many mistakes. Nice we could agree on that.
