"Genreral Franks has said that the President gave him everything he needed."

But only to win the war, not manage the country immediately afterward, as Powell and others said to the president. Powell and other said to the president things like, "Please Mr. President, remember that after you win the war you will own Iraq and its future." The president was getting subtle warnings from the state department and elsewhere that while winning the war might be easy, dealing with the country afterward would not. There's no 20/20 hindsight hear... The president listened to Cheney, Rumsfeld and Saudia Arabia's Bandar who said Iraqis would be joyful of an American invasion,,, Powell and others said otherwise, but the President didn't want to listen to people that had previous experience fighing Iraqis.
