Carmine, - I was as surprised as anyone when I watched W$W last evening, to hear Ralph Acamporra select Barnes as one of his 5 shorts for '98. My only guess would be that perhaps the Asian situation could impact the Barnes Aerospace Division during the last half of the year (98). The company should be a lock to earn $1.90 ++ for 1997, has repurchased ~3.75 million $$ of shares during 1997, and has an extremely competent leader (Martin Lewis) at the helm. Maybe he feels that comparison earnings Q to Q will not be up to snuff '98 vs '97, but at 11X earnings, and yielding 2.7%, and off recent highs of 30 1/2, he must know something we do not. Frankly, it's a mystery to me.
