Yes John. I have two cars the Prius for running around town...which is great as the mileage is better on these excursions for the battery is used and not gas. Then on trips I do have a little problem as those big trucks pass me on the highway and I am like an ant... The Subaru on the other hand is a great car but on comparison the Subaru used about $ 150 dollars of gas to go 720 miles while the Prius used about $ 50.00 ... The crux of the problem is this. It's all in the mind. I love pulling up to the pump and paying small bills. However, if one is intelligent about money..and I profess that I am not...the Prius cost more than than the Subaru. So why get a hybrid if it would take years to equal the price difference.. The other consideration. Get one car. Get what one likes such as a BMW (I had one once and loved it ) or easy on the road to travel car and cut out the cost of insurance repairs etc. I am in a conundrum right now trying to decide but I plopped down a thousand bucks for a deposit on another Prius the other day while still in in the throes of considering what to do. The other factor, is why not enjoy a luxury car as at age 77 who cares anyway what gas costs. I think I am a product of that parsimonious depression ridden thinking in which I was reared... God we do carry around our hang ups through out a life time don't we ?
