Good post, P. I agree, with the very minor exception in that I don't think conservative investing neccessarily ='s passive investing.
Long-term investing has proven itself to outperform market timers in many, many studies. But this is only true if the investor actively manages and analyzes his or her portfolio. IMO, the truly passive investor is not likely to see a lot of growth in the absence of a lot of luck.
I realize that I took your phrasing literally, and likely not how you meant it, but I thought it to be a good opportunity to expand on the point.
