Sprint PCS Partners with BMW to Provide Increased Safety and Convenience
through In-Vehicle Wireless Solutions to 2001 Model BMW's
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., Jan. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Sprint PCS (NYSE: PCS) today announced a strategic agreement with BMW to deliver all-digital, all-PCS wireless voice and data solutions to those customers who purchase a 2001 model year BMW vehicle. Sprint PCS is one of four service providers for integrated wireless phones in 2001 BMW vehicles.

BMW drivers selecting Sprint PCS service also will have access to the advanced communications features offered on Sprint PCS' all-digital, all-PCS nationwide wireless network, including voice call services and Internet access through the Sprint PCS Wireless Web.
BMW drivers will also have access to Sprint PCS Voice Command, the first nationwide network-based, voice-activated dialing and information service. Voice Command users simply create a personal address book and dial (*) (TALK) to let their voice do the dialing. Voice Command allows users to safely and quickly access people and information using various speech-enabled functions while using any Sprint PCS handset.
A Sprint PCS digital tri-mode CPT 8000 portable phone, based on the Motorola Timeport, wireless phone with integrated hands-free operation is available as standard equipment on 7-Series and Z8 vehicles and will be available as a BMW center installed accessory on 3-Series, 5-Series and X5 SAV vehicles.
