<< inability to lay workers off, 35 hour work weeks) >> A friend of mine from France tells me that many people there do not work on Fridays anymore. They easily put in their max required hours in four days and enjoy a long weekend every week. He said the govt's intention behind the 35 work week was to force co's to hire more workers in order to be able to get the same work done. But he said that rather than hire more workers in France, many co's have shifted some work over to their other offices outside of france where the work can get done on time.
