True that the carnage in the broader market isn't as dramatic as the Nasdaq, but the average stock has sufferred much longer than the Nasdaq has.

The average stock peaked in April 1998 and is now down about 28%. They reached their lowest levels in October 1998 when they were down about 33%. It looks like they may be headed back down to retest those levels.
