Jeff - Re: " what is your opinion of Rambus technology? Are you an investor in RMBS?"

They have excellent technology. However, the DRDRAM requires a totally different approach to CPU-Memory interfacing and a lot of details need to be worked out.

The issue of licensing fees is also a hurdle for Rambus to overcome, especially in light of the severe decline in memory pricing over the past 3 years.

Finally, there is a big EGO hurdle to overcome. RAMBUS was/is a little company that didn't make DRAMs yet they came up with a NOVEL approach at increasing memory bandwidth at a time when the HUGE Japanese and Korean DRAM makers were focused solely on production volumes and DRAM size increases.

To be "humbled" by the ingenuity of a few American engineers has not been easy for these companies - and to have to pay royalties on top of that, well - RAMBUS has its work cut out.
