Going to take this op to comment on orphan status..... it's nice to have the tax credits. If a company is actually relying on market exclusivity from the act, this generally isn't a positive. Red flag, if you think about it. The good news? Few companies actually rely on orphan status for exclusivity. One example is (was?) VION and porfiromycin. The bad news? Companies are adding gobs of MC on the back of orphan pump, and most of it is not justified.
