Cabletron launches global networking services division

By Laura Rohde

In an attempt to give its business a more network and e-commerce focus, Cabletron Systems announced the creation of a new division within the company called GlobalNetwork Technology Services.

The division is designed to introduce network management technologies, specifically its Spectrum network products and services and its switching services and products for ISPs and large corporate customers,
Cabletron said.

The division has offices in North America, Europe, and Asia and plans to have its full host of services for large corporations available on a wide scale beginning in November, the company said.

Cabletron announced its plans to move into the sector servicing large corporations last summer, saying that it believed growth would come from expanding its network management software and services in a
converged voice/data market.

Cabletron also said it is refocusing its network partnership with Compaq Computer, having just completed a preliminary agreement.

Cabletron Systems Inc., in Rochester, N.H., can be reached at www.cabletron.com.
