DRBES,RE: H. Ruiz may be crying some very phoney tears here.

This could well be very true. AMD was used as a stalking horse to beat Intel down with.

It is possible that AMD knew this and gave a very deeply discounted quote, secure in the knowledge that Intel would be forced to beat it and eat it.

Now, about a year later we see that AMD would have been able to fill the order with it's dross parts. Parts too slow for where the market is at this time that would be virtually scrap. AMD could also see this and that contributed to the lowness of their quote?
So we can suspect that Intel has a deal that it does not like, for parts it does not want to make because of their problems filling the market demand for the few fast parts they can make.

Now, will MSFT have a shadow product, with AMD parts, just in case they have trouble with the Intel parts and rambus memory? Has MSFT abandoned Rambus for the x-box? was the x-box a rambus fief? or was that left until later?

lots of cats waiting to exit the bag.
