Orca, Every one has their own opinions. Many of them differ. When the opposing opinions of nations rear their heads, there are wars. One of those differing opinions among individuals, and nations, is how to fight a war.

The harder the CIC hits the enemy, fewer American lives are lost. The bombing of Hiroshima, and Nagasaki, saved many thousands of American troops. There were surgical strikes in Iraq. Although they did not turn out perfectly, they were better than the alternative. I don't think the war will be allowed to last as long as you think. Even us Conservatives will get fed up with it. Those that we "liberated", and cheered our arrival, are now shooting at us. It is time to get the hell out of there, and leave them to their own fate.

It has become obvious that the "broad coalition" you mention, is not the UN. That organization should be disbanded, and/or, kicked out of the US.

The longer I live, which has already been quite some time, the more I favor isolationism. Take care of ourselves, and piss on the rest of the world. As long as there are humans on Earth, there will be no world peace. You might as well accept that. It has been true for many, thousands of years, and is not likely to change in our life times, if ever. All I want is a place in the Blue Ridge Mountains, away from urban sprawl, and feed the squirrels, and the deer, for the rest of my life.
