Urlman, Yes, the local auctions have a cast of thousands too, at least it seems that way.
Several friends of mine go as shills in real life auctions and they make sure there are no real deals, since the drop out as instructed by the auctioneer be arranged signals.
This is quite legal in USA/Canada, but illegal in the UK...still done though in the UK, just more clever.
At some point you decide to walk and not buy, same with Ebay.
