Thank you, Stockaholics, I had a response from Gordon fleckenstein on Stockchat.com, about SEMI has no followings. He did not know the tightly held situation. He uses gordon some times on CNBC.
On semiconductors, it doesn't mean a thing. The problem is 0.25 micron has real estate savings, but presently is wasting in yields. It is a wash out as far as growth goes. Products are made poorly, until some yield improvements can be had. We ar projecting the problems solved in the next quarter. Silcon wafers' orange peel defective polishing is checked; deep submicron cleanliness in photoresist and D.I. water has to be checked. You, of course, have heard the IBM/Cyrix MGX units would have dead on arrival problems, last year. Cyrix had to retest all inventory and screen them for voltage usability. Once they classified the 2.9 volts, 2.8 and 2.7 etc. the problem was solved. Cost Cyrix the Compaq business never the less.
SEMI, however, has no such problems as far as I know. Mostly selling Korean products which has good quality. Not so, in Taiwan products. |
