It took a 10 inch long plastic tube stuffed with chips to upgrade an 8088 from 256k beyond the 640k barrier to something like a full 1meg or perhaps 1.2meg of memory. I bought the memory at SoftWarehouse and it came out of the manager's old wooden desk drawer. That was one of 2 SoftWarehouses in existence at the time. Later they went on to become CompUSA. Anybody remember it? It was in the corner of an L-shaped strip mall on Beltline Rd.
