From the Digitcom web site, my highlights:
"IntraVoice technology brings together the best of the international switched network of the phone system and the economies afforded by data network transmission. It integrates fax transmission, global voice messaging, "Internet telephony", and the convenience of email into services accessed from any touch tone phone or fax machine. "
RM: We have been emphasizing Internet telephony, which is where the near-term revenues will come from, and yet we forget there are other technologies to be exploited.
"While we continue an aggressive R & D effort with cutting-edge technologies like voice recognition, voice-to-text, and text-to-voice, Digitcom is launching these next generation telecommunications services today. "
RM: Folks, this is a "sleeper" statement. Voice over IP packets is just the beginning. One you pass digitized voice over a network, voice recognition algorithms, now in advanced state of development by various companies, can use your voice to control your applications. IMHO, within five years keyboards will be a minor I/O device, with voice being the major Man Machine Interface (MMI). Or, to use a term in vogue, we will be using VUIs (Voice User Interface) instead of GUIs (Grpahical User Interface)
"We will soon have detailed information on these technologies available on this site, so be sure to check back soon. To learn more about our IntraVoice gateway right now, read on...."
RM: So there may be much more to DGIV than even we realize... |
