Many of the bailouts are being "paid back".
Treasury touts this as proof of success.

It works like this:

Borrow a zillion from TARP.
Borrow a zillion plus from the Fed at 0 %
Buy Treasuries paying a percent or two more.
After a year or 2, collect your interest winnings,
and pay back TARP.
Congratulate yourself on your investing prowess.

So who paid for this really ?
The retirees who saw their interest income drop to zero.
They got nothing. The banks got everything.
Welcome to Finance 2010.
