The $20 rebate for 10 pack Zip disks is already part of the $50 rebate program announced in July. It's not new news. You have to buy both the zip drive and the 10-pack at the same time to take advantage of it. by buying both you get a carrying case and 2 disk caddies free. So it's not anything new to worry about.

As far as Best Buy selling the drive at $179, that is the store's perrogative to sell below suggested retail. Maybe their high volume buying power allows them to buy cheaper than other stores or perhaps they have a special promotion to undercut their retail competitors. Here in Montreal, the rebate program has just been promoted in the last few weeks in Newspaper advertisements. The normal retail price is $299 Canadian, but I have seen some stores sell it for $289. The local Electronics chain Adventure Electronics sells the Epson zip drive for $279.
