Proposed definitions:

Inflation: A general increase in price levels regardless of cause.

Deflation: A general decrease in price levels regardless of cause.


I can not or will not accept those definitions.

They are fatally flawed. They can not be measured and no one can define a representative basket of goods and services to measure even IF prices could be measured (which they can't).

It is hopeless to think inflation is a rise in prices.
